China’s presence in Latin America has intensified in the last decade and has materialized in numerous projects carried out by companies or with financing from the main banks of the Asian country. In addition, governments have established agreements and memoranda of understanding in a wide range of sectors such as energy, infrastructure and agribusiness. These projects have not been exempt from socio-environmental conflicts, human rights violations and effects on the environment and territories of ethnic and peasant communities.
